Since its inception, the Dr. Bogalech Gebre ACLP Fellowship has supported over 60 young lawyers and civic-minded professionals in advancing human rights and accountability across Africa.
Our fellows work in diverse settings—from human rights commissions to legal aid organizations, from advocacy groups to community-based initiatives. What unites them is their commitment to using their legal skills and civic passion to create positive change.
Impact Stories
One of our recent fellows, working with the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, helped document human rights violations in rural communities, leading to policy recommendations that were adopted by national authorities.
Another fellow, placed with a women's rights organization, developed legal literacy materials that reached thousands of women in underserved communities, helping them understand their rights and access legal services.
These stories demonstrate the ripple effect of our fellowship program. When we invest in emerging leaders, we're not just supporting individual careers—we're strengthening entire human rights ecosystems.
As we look to the future, we're excited to expand our fellowship program and continue supporting the next generation of human rights defenders and civic leaders across Africa.
